Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Batanes provincial caretaker Marietta Salviejo participated in the Ivatan Agro Trade Fair and Night Market held at the Basco, Batanes old Tennis Court from June 26 to July 2, 2015.
The Ivatan Agro Trade Fair and Night Market were conducted in support to the annual celebration of Ivatan festival, facilitated by national government agencies and other line agencies.
Activity is aimed at providing consumers better access to the best Ivatan products and services as well as to encourage Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to continuously seek for entrepreneurial development and to create more jobs.
Prizes for the Best Booth and exhibitors with the highest sales generated were also given on July 2, 2015.
Several products were made available during the event such as organic vegetable noodles, handicrafts, processed turmeric and fish products.
Among the participating SMEs were San Carlos Veggie Noodles, Kauhauhasan Handicraft Weavers and Vegetable Growers Association, Sabtang Weavers, Sta. Lucia RIC and Milagrosa Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
New products from other SMEs were also showcased for promotion which includes garden accessories for landscaping and locally woven hammock,
Members of the Philippine Marines-Batanes also provided assistance to the exhibitors in the setting up of their booths.
In line with the trade fair, a diskwento caravan was conducted generating sales of Php. 467,473.00 with 1,047 buyers.
