DTI STIDS Mr. Jonathan Gato during his CEI lecture at the BNHS
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Batanes Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) and officer-in-charge of the Consumer Welfare, Jonathan C. Gato, conducted full blast Consumer Education and Information (CEI) activities in Basco last October 4-9, 2015.
The CEI activities form part of DTI-Batanes’ participation in the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) Celebration with this year’s them, Consumer Protection in the ASEAN Economic Community.
For this year, the National Consumer Affairs Council (NCAC) is the lead agency in ensuring the successful observance of the event.
The first CEI activity was conducted at the Batanes Negosyo Center for the Consumer Group of Basco last October 4, 2015 and another CEI activity during the Gender Sensitivity Training for Stakeholders last October 6. Although the activity was originally intended for Gender Sensitivity Training for Tour Guides, Mr. Gato took the opportunity to discuss about the BN Registration for their business and shared his knowledge about consumer protection especially since they primarily cater to tourists not just from within the Philippines but also to those who are from other countries.
The latest CEI activity conducted was for the students of Basco National Science High School (BNSHS) last October 9, 2015.
Mr. Gato was joined by the President of the Consumer Group of Basco, Ms. Vicenta V. Hidalgo in fulfillment to their pledge to support DTI in all their consumer-related activities.
