The Department of Trade and Industry conducted diskwento caravans in the province of Cagayan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela on October 27-29, 2015 to provide financial relief to marginal consumers especially those being affected by calamities such as Typhoon Lando.
A one day diskwento caravan will be conducted in Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya on 27 October 2015, in Maddela Quirino on October 28, 2015, in Enrile, Cagayan and Ilagan City, Isabela on 29 October 2015.
Relatedly, DTI leda special price monitoring of basic and prime commodities in various public markets in the region to ensure that products sold are within the suggested retail prices (SRPs).
In Batanes, Consumer Welfare Officer in-charge and Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Mr. Jonathan Gato conducted a special price monitoring activity at the height of Typhoon Lando on October 21, 2015.
The province of Batanes was declared by PAGASA under storm signal number 2 at the height of typhoon Lando. This prompted possibilities of commodity price increases especially considering that there had not been any transhipment of goods from the mainland for almost two weeks due to extremely rough seas.
A total of fifteen (15) establishments were monitored and found compliant.
