The Local Government of Quezon in coordination with the Department of Trade of Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture – Nueva Vizcaya Experiment Station (DA-NVES) conducted the Skills Training on Cassava Culture Management, Utilization and Processing on February 10, 2016 at the DA-NVES, Tapaya, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya funded under the DTI-BuB funds for its Yaman Pinoy Food Processing Project.

The skills training was participated in by fifty-four (54) members of three (3) non-government organizations in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya namely: the Calaocan parents Credit Cooperative, Darubba United Parents Organization and the Maasin Responsible Parents Association.

The participants are currently engaged in cassava production which they intend to use as raw material for their cassava processing.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Henry O. Conel, Jr., OIC-Provincial Director expressed his gratitude to Ms. Celerina Miranda, DA-NVES Manager for sharing their expertise on the technology and for allowing the participants to use the food processing equipment for purposes of the training.

Mr. Conel said that the training is just the start of the series of interventions and assistances packaged under Yaman Pinoy Food Processing Project of the LGU. He encouraged the participants to make full use of the learnings that they would gain from the activity.
