The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Batanes Provincial Office in close partnership with the local government Unit of Batanes spearheaded the undertaking of the 2016 Agro-Industrial Trade Fair with the theme “Sa Organiko;Kalusugan ay Sigurado” held on June 26 to July 2, 2016 at the Batanes Provincial Capitol Park.

The event was participated in by different local government units, Shared Service Facilities (SSF) beneficiaries and other Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that showcased their best quality organic products such as wakay, uvi, turmeric tea, organic cookies, among others.

Native food products and other handicraft products were also made available during the fair.

Prizes were given to exhibitors with the highest total accumulated sales and have maintained the best dress booth.

Meanwhile, the Balik-Eskwela Diskwento Caravan was conducted on June 26, 201 to July 2, 2016 at the Provincial Capitol Park, Basco, Batanes.

The DC was timely conducted for the incoming school year, which offers discounted prices for school supplies.

The opening and ribbon cutting was graced by the District Representative Hon. Henedina R. Abad. With her were Provincial Governor Vicente S. Gato and other National Agency Heads.

According to Jonathan C. Gato, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS), the Balik- Eskwela Diskwento Caravan was definitely a big help to the students and especially to the parents who will send their children in school this year.

Among the basic school supplies made available were papers, notebooks, pencils, crayons, bags, shoes, socks, and other school necessities.

Overall, Php 15.4 Million Domestic Sales was generated in the conducted activities.
