The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 spearheaded by Consumer Welfare Development Division (CWD) Chief Mr. Randolph Cacacho has embarked on an intensified consumer awarenes advocacy campaign in the different barangays within the region since June 2016.

With the advocacy  campaign theme “Filipino Consumers on Patrol (FILCOP) sa Barangays”, it aims to instill the spirit of consumerism among Barangay Officials, Purok Leaders, Womens Group, Health Workers in the community.

As of August 2016, a total of 2,619 consumers have benefitted from the 151 barangays in the region since June.

OIC Cacacho said that the DTI will continue to intensify its efforts in empowering consumers to become more vigilant even those from the far flung barangays.

The advocacy campaign comprises of lectures on the Eight (8) Consumer Rights, Five (5) Consumer Responsibilities, Different Types of Consumers, and an open forum.

The participants were given an opportunity to ask questions and clarifications regarding their experiences and ask for a possible solutions.

Same activity is set to be conducted in the different barangays of Cagayan in September 2016.
