The Tuguegarao City Government (TCG), Department of Information and Communications Technology – Luzon Cluster 01 (DICT LC1), and Department of Trade and Industry – Regional Office No. 02 (DTI R02) recently conducted the 1st Rural Impact Sourcing (RIS) Forum in Tuguegarao during the opening day of the City’s 293rd Patronal Fiesta last August 11, 2017.

The forum, which was attended by around one hundred fifty (150) college students, young professionals, businessmen, and representatives from various government agencies, aimed to promote various digital opportunities that are in-demand today. Topics on the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry were also discussed along with various tips for a successful online career.

In a statement, Senator JV Ejercito said that with the emergence of the ICT Industry, more jobs and opportunities will be created. He further emphasized that with the creation of DICT, the government can now ensure the implementation of the national ICT strategy.

Meanwhile, OIC Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano stressed that “Tuguegarao City is filled with so much talents and potentials.” He added that with its relatively young population, it is but appropriate for the government to prepare the young Tuguegaraoeños for the future and develop them to be competent, able, and productive citizens. He also encouraged the relevant stakeholders to provide avenues for learning and collaboration and translate the City’s potentials into the realization of a strong and formidable ICT Industry in the locality.

Simultaneously, a press conference on the creation of the Tuguegarao City ICT Council was conducted. The press conference was participated-in by Atty. Romeo Calubaquib, City Administrator; Atty. Joana May Pagurayan, Executive Assistant to the City Mayor and ICT Focal Person; Ms. Emy Lou Delfin, Program Manager – eInnovation; Engr. Rey Parnacio, OIC – Director I; Ms. Mary Ann Dy, Chief Trade and Industry Development Specialist; and around ten (10) media outlets from across the Region.
