Cagayan Valley Bamboo Industry Development Council (CVBIDC) convened on their 1st Business Meeting on August 30, 2017 at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office No.02, NERBAC Conference Room, Tuguegarao City,Cagayan.
Mr. Felipe Tabuñar, council chair, presided the meeting which was participated in by five (5) provincial members and four (4) members of the advisory board. The council’s ex officio members are the DTI as Co-Chair and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as Vice-Chair.
Mr. Tabuñar called for the meeting to discuss some parliamentary procedures which he highly suggests for adoption by the council.
On his message, DTI Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano challenged the council to become more active in the implementation of their plans and programs. Ms. Mary Ann Dy gave an introduction on industry clustering while the other agenda included were the evaluation of the 1st Cagayan Valley Bamboo Business Forum, Terms of Office, Functions of the council, Agency Reports and Bamboo Business Mission in China, among others.
The council brought out numerous discussion points such as the mapping and inventory of bamboo plantations and specie by the Provincial Councils, creation of a committee for Constitution and By-Laws, members to convene for a special meeting on September 29, 2017, and proposal to come-up with a separate regional bamboo benchmarking mission in China.
