This is a value-added project initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Region 02 under the Industry Cluster Enhancement (ICE) Program. The project seeks to emphasize the need to see product development as more than just an intervention but a culture and a definite strategy to strengthen the industry clusters and eliminate threats of competition and changing market demands.
The project consists of four (4) phases namely: Phase 1: Product Development Orientation and Assessment; Phase 2: Product Design Development and Execution; Phase 3: Product Monitoring and Final Critiquing; and Phase 4: Product Promotion/Launch.
The expected outcome of the project is the development of at least 50 designs and execution of at least 24 designs before the product launch.
The project management team conducted the Phase 1 of the project through the services of Mr. Rey Soliven, one of the regarded free-lance design consultants in the country on August 10-11, 2017 at the DTI 02 Negosyo Center,
Mr. Soliven held a three-hour product development orientation which included design and color trends before he proceeded to the one-on-one consultation. The designer and the participants agreed to the line of products that each of them would focus.
He had an initial draft of the designs during the consultation but the revised designs will be issued once finalized. The MSMEs are given more than a month to execute the designs ready for the final monitoring.
