The 1st Cagayan Valley Coffee Business Forum, through the Cagayan Valley Coffee Industry Council (CVCIC) held its 1st Business Meeting on August 25, 2017 at the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Cagayan Valley Research Center, San Felipe, Ilagan City, Isabela.
The council is chaired by the DA-RFO2, co-chaired by Mr. Diosdado Estocapio of the Mataga-ay Coffee Growers and Producers Cooperative of Quirino, while the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-R02 is the ex-officio Vice-Chair. The members of the council are the representatives of the different Provincial Coffee Councils.
Mr. Estocapio, presided the 1st Business Meeting, which was attended by 33 representatives of the different member-organizations.
During the discussion of the matters arising from the previous meeting, TESDA Isabela Provincial Director Nestor Ave shared that trainings related to barista or coffee processing may be conducted in partnership with the only TESDA-accredited school on coffee barista course located in Santiago City.
Meanwhile, DOST Quirino Provincial Director Lucio Calimag encouraged the four beneficiaries of the free product testing (Barako Boy Coffee, Tiblac-Lingak, Kalahan Educational Foundation, MasisitDacal Livelihood Cooperative) which he committed previously to submit their product samples to DOST-Quirino.
The members participated in the discussion of the new business matters which included the evaluation of the 1st Cagayan Valley Coffee Business Forum, Organizational Matter such as terms of office and protocols of the officers and members of the council, presentation of agency’s reports and the participation of Region 02 in the Luzon Island Coffee Assembly.
It was also agreed that the council will provide technical assistance to those who are interested to apply for the different programs and projects of the different agencies such as the farm mechanization and integrated coffee processing business of DA and the Brand Equity Development Program (BrEDP) of DTI, among others.
