The Department of Agriculture (DA)-RFO2, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-R02 and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)-Cagayan Valley collaborated to support and promote agribusiness in Cagayan Valley Region during the Launching of the ASPIRE Program or Agribusiness Support for Promotion and Investment in Regional Expositions on May 09-11, 2018 at the Brickstone Mall, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Aimed at integrating marketing development support services to farmers and fisherfolks, ASPIRE is a national convergence program between DA, DTI and PCCI.

In his message, DTI Regional Director Ruben Diciano expressed his full support especially in the promotion and enhancement of value additions of the various agricultural produce. He also reiterated the importance of industry clustering as an approach to strengthen linkages and cooperation between and among stakeholders.

“We need to strategize and to integrate efforts in the entire agri-business value chain because unity amidst diversity increases productivity and efficiency,” Director Diciano said.

PCCI Regional Governor Cloyd Velasco, enjoined the private sector to take advantage of this program which is seen to contribute in making Cagayan Valley region more progressive.

DA Assistant Secretary-Designate for Agribusiness and Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director for Field Operations Service Dr. Andrew B. Villacorta, said the ASPIRE launching in the region, which is the 5th in the whole country, is anchored on the current administration’s commitment to produce affordable and safe food for the nation.

He expressed his appreciation to the government agencies, private sector, industries and associations for collectively working together to promote agri-business and fishery.

He also said that the ASPIRE Program aims to link farmers and fisher folks directly to investors in order for them to avoid engaging with middlemen.

To inspire the participants - mostly farmers, Mr. Chinkee Tan, popularly known as “Mr. Chink Positive” discussed the topic on Developing Entrepreneurial Mindset for agri-entrepreneurs.

The ASPIRE launching included other activities such as an Investment Promotion Forum held on May 10, 2018 and a Trade Fair showcasing the best of Cagayan Valley’s farm produce and agri-based products.
