In conjunction with this year’s celebration of the 120th Declaration of the Philippine Independence, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-R02, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-R02, conducted the “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” (TNK) Job and Business Fairs with the theme Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan on June 12-13, 2018 at the People’s Gymnasium in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. In support of this initiative, the DTI-R02 simultaneously conducted Trade Fair, Diskwento Caravan and Entrepreneurial Seminars, and promoted the agency’s services to the job applicants. On their part, the DOLE-R02 held a Jobs Fair.
Twenty (20) exhibitors participated in the two-day trade fair that generated P 88,492 sales; while five (5) companies joined the diskwento caravan which generated P 22,152.87 sales.
Moreover, 100 potential and existing MSMEs, consisting of OFWs and PWDs among others, were capacitated and provided entrepreneurial seminars to improve their business management skills and boost business opportunities.
Meanwhile, out of 714 qualified job applicants at the Jobs Fair, 113 were hired on the spot. The other applicants were required to complete their documentary requirements in order to be considered for a job; 18 were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skills training; 11 were referred for livelihood assistance and 74 were referred to the DTI for business opportunities. Notably, there were 41 companies and employers who participated in the Jobs Fair.
Hon. Imogen Claire Mapagu-Callangan, City Councilor of Tuguegarao City, Mr. Ruben B. Diciano, OIC Regional Director of DTI 02 and Atty. Federico V. Abuan, Jr., Assistant Secretary of DOLE graced the opening ceremonies.
Aimed to provide jobs and promote entrepreneurship at the grassroots level, this month’s TNK caravan is the second run staged by the DTI and DOLE this year.
