Two personnel from the Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 lead a delegation of 55 participants, composed of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Local Government Unit (LGU) representatives and other stakeholders, to the 26TH international processing and packaging event for Asia, PROPAK ASIA 2018.

ProPak Asia is Asia’s No. 1 and largest processing and packaging event in Asia. It is regarded as Asia’s best platform to forge new business partnerships and connect to the region’s rapidly expanding processing and packaging industries.

The four – day event which presented 1,570 exhibitors from 41 countries and 17 international pavilions from 13 countries was held at the Bangkok International Trade Exposition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok, Thailand on June 13-16, 2018.

This year’s PROPAK Asia included among its component activities the setting up of twelve (12) Industry Zones which made easier for buyers and sellers to meet and negotiate:

  1. Processing Tech Asia.
  2. Packaging Tech Asia
  3. Drink Tech Asia
  4. Pharma Tech Asia
  5. Materials Asia
  6. Cold chain Logistics & Warehousing Asia
  7. Cooling, Marking, Labelling Asia
  8. Lab & Test Asia
  9. Converting, Package Printing and Labelling Exhibition

A three-day seminar that offered conferences on various topics regarding packaging was also staged.

Meanwhile, on the 2nd day of the event, the ProPak Philippines Investment Forum was conducted. This was attended by no less than Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon and the General Manager of UBM Bangkok Exhibition Service Ltd. Mr.Justin Tao, who announced that ProPak Asia will be brought to the Philippines in January 2019.

The DTI Undersecretary for ROG Zenaida C. Maglaya, who was among the speakers in the Forum, emphasized in her talk that packaging is not a mere container or something to protect the product, rather, it is a product’s selling point. In parting, she welcomed the Philippines’ hosting of Propak Asia on January 24-26, 2019 at the World Trade Center in Manila.
