ProPak Asia 2018 had been an enlightening and fruitful experience to Region 02’s MSME participants who brought home new ideas and new technologies to ponder on or implement in their respective business ventures.

Some of them learned about the appropriate machines for their manufacturing activities while others discovered various possibilities for their packaging. The event was an avenue for other participants to identify packaging materials appropriate for their products according to a given market segment.

These discoveries lead some of the delegates to negotiate and coordinate with suppliers in the venue. The owners of the MIF Processing Plant in Quirino had initial negotiations with suppliers on the technical specifications of selected machines that can adapt with the physical condition of existing electrical power supply system in their facility and other considerations necessary during production operation and after sales operation and maintenance protocols.

Meanwhile, the officers of Lighthouse Cooperative chanced upon a machine for dehydrating fruits and vegetables. They requested the supplier for the machine’s specifications and other details for them to study when they get back to the Philippines. Other machines that caught the interests of our delegates include the labeling printer, the labeling dispenser, and coffee sorting, roasting, grinding, and packing machines.

Noteworthy is the experience of the representatives from PLGU Quirino who had a chance to talk with Japanese exhibitors who showcased various technologies for the treatment of wastewater from different industries including municipal sewage treatment. These exhibitors have existing wastewater treatment projects in La Union and in the Visayas region. The PLGU will arrange their visit to Governor Cua of Quirino for possible partnership in the implementation of a similar project in the province.

For the other delegates, the exhibit provided them insights on the wide range of products and technology that are available for their respective company requirements in terms of production capacity and capitalization.

Further, the participants were able to widen their network as they were able to promote friendly cooperation with SMEs and partners from other regions. They expressed their gratitude to DTI and the organizers of ProPak Asia for making possible their participation in this prestigious event from which they greatly benefited. According to them, their exposure to ProPak Asia inspired them to be more aggressive in their operations and to become more competitive in order to contribute more to their respective community’s economic growth and development. Some of them underscored the free accommodation during the duration of the event and the coordination and facilitation made for them in all the activities.
