Plans are underway for the conduct of the 3rd Regional Cacao Forum which is tentatively scheduled on August 23, 2018.
In their 2nd business meeting for CY 2018, the Regional Cacao Industry Development Council (RCIDC) drew out plans for the conduct of a business forum on Cacao for CY 2018 which is dubbed 3rd Regional Cacao Industry Business Forum.
Ms. Ragel Tacazon, Trade and Industry Development Specialist and DTI-R02 Regional Coordinator for Cacao, presented the project proposal for this event which is proposed to be held at the Southern Cagayan Research Station in Iguig, Cagayan.
According to Ms. Tacazon, the forum aims to increase awareness among the public of the prospects of the cacao industry in the region and thus encourage more people to engage in the production and processing of cacao for additional income; to present to cacao producers and processors the new trends and technology on cacao production and processing; and to promote the new cacao products of DTI and DA – assisted MSMEs.
The forums’ component activities will include, among others, plenary conferences relative to cacao production, processing and marketing. This will be highlighted by the launching and promotion of new cacao products in Region 02.
The Council’s business meeting, which was held on June 8, 2018 at the DA-Northern Cagayan Experiment Station in Abulug, Cagayan was attended by thirty-eight (38) member-stakeholders from the private sector and regional line agencies and was presided by Ms. Kay Lactao, Co-Chair of the RCIDC.
Ms. Lactao reminded the Council that the development of the cacao industry is a multi-sectoral concern that requires the pro-active private sector initiatives and government interventions, as well as the harmonious collaboration between and among all stakeholders.
