The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Region 02 has achieved its target of 100% for consumer complaints resolution in the 1st semester of 2018.

The agency resolved all 22 complaints received in the 1st quarter while in the second quarter, out of the 31 complaints received from all five provinces of the region, 29 complaints were resolved in the DTI and two were referred to appropriate agencies. This reflects a 100% case resolution.

Most of the complaints received involved defective or deceptive products and services. Others have to do with establishments’ compliance to product warranties.

To mitigate or avoid the occurrence of violations, the DTI conducts business education advocacies simultaneously with the conduct of monitoring and enforcement to educate business owners, their staff, as well as consumers on various trade and industry laws.

A total of 239 business advocacies were conducted all over the region in the 2nd quarter which is 55% more than the 108 advocacies conducted in the 1st quarter of this year.

DTI continues to address consumer complaints in line with its mandate of protecting the welfare of both the consumers and business owners. The agency seeks to settle actual controversies involving consumer and business transactions in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations.
