Tuguegarao City will soon transform into a ‘premier digital Ibanag City of the North’.
This, according to Atty. Joana Pagurayan, Tuguegarao City ICT Council Focal Person, is the thrust of the Local Government Unit of Tuguegarao City and the Tuguegarao City ICT Council.
Atty. Pagurayan is among the delegation of the DTI and the ICT Councils of Tuguegarao City and Cauayan City to the Digital Cities PH Summit on July 19 - 20, 2018 at the Novotel Manila, Quezon City.
The summit, which was conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the Information Technology – Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), aimed to redefine and enhance the role of Local Government Units (LGUs) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Councils in championing countryside development, and to increase the ICT Councils’ awareness on the latest trends and developments in the ICT industry.
Highlighting the summit is the launching of theDigital Cities PH Portal, along with the ICT Council Playbook. A business-matching between the participating ICT Councils and big-ticket IT - BPM investors was also conducted as part of its closing activities.
In an interview, Atty. Pagurayan said that the summit was an avenue to view Tuguegarao City from an investor’s perspective. She considers it important for the City to prepare purposive investment promotion strategies to attract prospective investors and to create a conducive start-up ecosystem for the people of Tuguegarao City. According to her, the City government and the ICT Council have already laid out plans and conceptualized activities in 2018 to jump-start the City’s digital transformation.
Thirty four (34) ICT Councils from across the country participated in the two-day summit. Among them were Tuguegarao City ICT Council, which was created by virtue of City Ordinance No. 17 – 2018, and Cauayan City ICT Council, which was created through an Executive Order.
