Four (4) SMEs of region 02 were able to participate in the recently conducted National Handicraft Trade Fair at the SM Megatrade in Mandaluyong on May 6-10, 2015.

In preparation to the Trade Fair, region 02 selected exhibitors underwent product development training organized by DTI R02 held at the DTI -02 Regional Office last April 28, 2015.  Four (4) designers from the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) were invited to share their expertise to further improve the products of the region 02 participating SMEs wherein new designs/ prototypes were introduced.

DCP Designer Mr. Rommel Viloria shared to the participants some of innovative ideas and techniques on how to improve the presentation of their products, making it more appealing to customers.

Mr. Viloria suggested to the entrepreneurs to try to use different materials in making frames such us glass and bottles.

He also said that, to highlight their products and make it more attractive, they should use monochromatic colors for the frames. Use of cheap woods for the frame was also encouraged as this will also lower the selling price/value of their product, making it more affordable.

The National Handicraft Trade Fair organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) aims to gather micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from all over the country to stage and sell their best quality Filipino handicraft products.
