For the period January to August this year, the Department of Trade and Industry-region 02 has conducted ten (10) runs of the Enhanced Diskwento Caravan all over the region that generated total sales of P 2.4 million with 7,844 beneficiaries. 

The caravan in partnership with the local government units and the private/business sector is an initiative of the Department designed to bring relief to consumers from the rising prices of goods.

Under the program, manufacturers/distributors and retailers are encouraged to sell goods at discounted prices ranging from 10 to 50 percent discount offering school supplies, basic and prime commodities. 

Some of the participating companies and brands include the following: Grupo Marilen, Inc., Isabela Bags, Isabela Prime Distribution, Laicom Sales and Promotion, Inc., P & G/ U- Profit Sales and Distribution, Pandayan Bookshop, Savemore Market, Market Strategic Firm/SM Store, Lighthouse Cooperative, Zenco Footsteps, Marikina Shoe Exchange, JM Quality Store, Baker’s Percent Bakeshop, Happy Boutique, National Food Authority, Vita’s Trading, Golden AG Merchandize, Ideal Bazaar, Fe Lumaban Leather craft, Precious Wynner RTW, 3PM Enterprises and  Two Kings RTW, among others.

Moreover, other agencies have collaborated with the DTI particularly TESDA which offered free massage, pedicure and manicure including free haircut, while the DENR and DA provided free seeds and seedling to the beneficiaries. Also, the NFA sold rice at discounted prices.

DTI-region 02 is set to conduct more Diskwento Caravan in the 4th quarter of the year with focus on noche buena products.
